Tim Wakerell
Educated
at Walton High School, Stafford, Tim Wakerell entered the Royal College
of Music in 2003 to study organ with Margaret Phillips. Tim is a Foundation
Scholar at the RCM supported by a Ruth Dyson Award and he now studies
with David Graham. In 2004 he gained the ARCO, winning the Limpus,
Shinn and Durrant prizes. Tim was a finalist at the 2004 Royal College
of Organists Young Performer of the Year competition and subsequently
performed in the Gloucester Three Choirs Festival. As a result of
his participation in the Oundle Advanced Academy for Young Organists,
he was awarded recitals at Southwell Minster, Ludlow Parish Church
and St. Edmundsbury Cathedral. Tim has also recently given concerts
at St John’s College, Cambridge and the Grosvenor Chapel, London.
Tim is active as an accompanist and he plays for the RCM Chamber Choir.
He also studies keyboard continuo with Robert Woolley. In January,
he played the organ for a performance of Kodaly’s Laudes Organi
with the RCM Chamber Choir, directed by Paul Spicer. He also participated
in the recent London Festival of Contemporary Church Music where he
was recorded from St Pancras Parish Church playing for evensong on
Radio 3. Tim was organ scholar at the Chapel of the Royal Hospital,
Chelsea from 2005-6 where he played the organ for the choir’s
recording of music by Fauré and Rutter. He is now assistant
organist at St Pancras Parish Church.
