Il Messo Celeste (2003) ‘Il Messo celeste’ was my second piece for organ. Many of my compositions have their source of inspiration in Dante’s Divine Comedy. For ‘Il Messo celeste’ the point of departure is the ninth Canto of Inferno. As Dante and Virgil wait for a solution how to enter in the city of Dite the music is suspended in the atmosphere of waiting. The musical elements return one after another, often slightly modified. Little by little the music outwears its own power and a kind of emptiness arrives. At this point there is finally a place for new elements to emerge. Duration: 10 minutes |
