| Martin Stacey
Today, his regular solo concert appearances throughout Europe and Scandinavia, together with broadcasts for BBC radio and television, have established his reputation amongst the foremost exponents of the younger generation of organists. In addition to a busy, international performing schedule, he is a guest-lecturer in early Iberian keyboard music and notation at Trinity College of Music, and also teaches music at New End School in Hampstead. Since 2000 he has been Director of Music at St. Dominic’s Priory in London, where he has established regular organ recitals on the famous 1883 Willis, and has recently installed an 1859 Bryceson organ. Martin has collaborated with Jennifer Bate in two world-première recordings of organ duets by Mendelssohn (available on the Somm label) and has recently recording organ music by Neil Wright and David Bevan for Priory Records. His own compositions are receiving considerable attention worldwide and in 2006 he founded AFNOM (the Annual Festival of New Organ Music) to promote the work of contemporary composers of organ music. Having featured works from all over Europe and North America in its first year, exhibition-concerts during the 2007 festival have expanded to include events in London, Helsinki and Lisbon. From 2008, Martin will be assisting with the running of ‘Park Lane Group (PLG) Young Artists’ by coordinating events for organists. This will be the first time the PLG have been able to include the organ regularly on the scheme. Away from music, Martin is a 1stDan black-belt in Shotokan karate.
