Emma
Gibbins began her musical career as organ scholar at Pembroke
College, Cambridge, during which time she studied with Anne
Page. On moving to London in 2001 to study for a PhD, she spent
a year as assistant organist of St. Michael’s, Battersea,
a year as organ scholar at St. Michael’s, West Croydon,
and a year as organ scholar at St. Martin in the Fields. During
this time she directed a small chamber choir, Canto Villanella.
In September 2004, she was appointed organ scholar at Southwell
Minster, working under the direction of Paul Hale, during her
time in Southwell she was awarded Associateship of the Royal
College of Organists. She was also accompanist and associate
conductor for the Cranmer Company of Singers, a Nottinghamshire
based chamber choir. She completed the MMus course in advanced
performance at the Royal College of Music, London in September
2006, studying organ with David Graham and harpsichord with
Robert Woolley.
Emma is the Director of Music at All Saints’ Church
in High Wycombe, associate organist at St. Sepulchre-without-Newgate,
organ scholar at Brentwood Cathedral, where she is currently
involved in the setting up of a new Cathedral Girls’ Choir,
and accompanist of the South West London Choral Society.
