| Tim
Wakerell graduated from the Royal College of Music with First
Class Honours in July 2007 where he studied organ with Margaret
Phillips and David Graham. He was the recipient of the Harold
Darke Prize for his final recital and consequently gave the
Darke memorial recital at St Michael’s, Cornhill. As an
under-graduate, Tim held a foundation scholarship supported
a Ruth Dyson and Edgar Cook award and after winning a further
scholarship, he is now continuing his studies for a MMus degree
with David Graham. In 2004 he also gained the ARCO, winning
the Limpus, Shinn and Durrant prizes.
In recent years, Tim has attended RCM study trips to Paris,
Amsterdam and Hamburg as well as Oundle courses in Cambridge
and Toulouse and the International Summer Organ Conservatoire
in Orléans. He has played in masterclasses given by Dame
Gillian Weir, Thomas Trotter, Pieter van Dijk and many others.
Tim has also given recitals in venues such as St Edmundsbury
Cathedral, St John’s College, Cambridge, Grosvenor Chapel,
and St Stephen Walbrook, London. Future recital engagements
include the Royal Hospital, Chelsea and Southwark Cathedral.
Tim was accompanist for the RCM Chamber Choir for three years
under the direction of Paul Spicer with whom he performed works
such as Dvorak’s Mass in D and Kodaly’s Laudes Organi.
He was organ scholar at the Chapel of the Royal Hospital, Chelsea
from 2005-6 and during this time he played the organ for the
choir’s recording of music by Fauré and Rutter.
From 2006-7 he was assistant organist at St Pancras Parish Church,
London where he was involved in the London Festival of Contemporary
Church Music and where he was twice broadcast playing for Radio
Three Choral Evensong. Earlier this year, he also participated
in a new recording of sacred music by the Italian film composer,
Nino Rota. Tim is currently organ scholar at Southwark Cathedral.
